Tauranga New ZealandTauranga has much to offer the traveller. There are excursions to Mayor and Motiti Islands, the volcanically active White Island, fishing trips (for big game and small) and scenic flights.

Tauranga New ZealandTauranga was the scene of much intertribal warfare in the 1820's and 1830's. The Reverend Alfred Brown arrived in 1838 and survived with his mission. Today, Tauranga's beginnings can be seen in the rooms and grounds of 'The Elms'. The library there still contains his books and sermons.

Tauranga New ZealandThe golden sands of nearby Mount Maunganui's magnificent ocean beach extend for several miles down the gently curving coast to the more secluded Papamoa area and are popular with swimmers, sailors and surfers.
